365 Vintage days: Black and yellow Mexican skirt

This black and yellow skirt is a recent purchase, from Fabgabs on etsy. I wore it for the first time late May at a gig in Helsinki’s Virgin Oil club, with the Stargazers and Restless (we missed the first band : Boppin’ Pete 3). The Stargazers were as good as before although they played only old standards. Restless is less my ”cup-of-tea” but was ok.

With this Maya print and sequins skirt I wore a black cotton blouse, a yellow purse, yellow and black costume jewelry set, yellow belt and ballerinas as well as black bakelite bangles.

I just can’t recall where the blouse’s from but my bet is a vintage vendor at a R’n’R weekender somewhere. The belt is from the Rockabilly Rave, a few years ago and is actually a 1990’s skinny belt UK repro. The costume jewelry set is one of my first costume jewelry purchases, back in the early 1990’s at Hemsby. The bangles are from the Long Beach veteran stadium’s flea market last spring and from an antique shop in Stockholm’s Södermalm called Brandstation. The purse is from ebay and I actually had the matching springolators, but they are too big for me 🙁 Hence, yellow – repro – ballerinas.

I have been buying and wearing 50’s clothing and accessories – most of it casual - for more than twenty years and I am still doing so. This blog now continues ...

I love black and yellow together! And I’m so envious of your yellow box bag – it’s so great that you have managed to find these bags in all sorts of colours! 🙂

Thanks! I am always looking for different colour purses, and I keep them. So after all these years, I have a nice collection.

Thanks Melanie, I agree with you, it’s a pity we did not have much time to chat at the rave… but we’ll see soon at another weekender.
