Mid-October I went to Ontario on business and had to spend the weekend in Ottawa. I visited the parliament and the Natural Sciences Museum and also did some shopping. I had no time to really prepare for this part of my trip, appart from a quick internet search into vintage shops in Ottawa. I found five shops that seemed promising. My shopping day was a small disapointment: of the five shops I picked up from my internet search, three did not exist anymore, one was selling only 70’s to 90’s vintage and one – Ragtime Vintage Clothing (43 Flora St.) – did have nice 30’s to 80’s clothing. Including a couple of really great pieces that were unfortunately much too big for me.
My only purchase was a black felt skirt, with colorful felt flowers all around. A nice skirt indeed!
I wore it a week after purchase, at a R’n’R party in Hyvinkää, north of Helsinki, together with a baby blue cashmere sweater, baby blue shoes (heels at the beginning of the party, canvas wedges at the end), baby blue purse, costume jewelry and a black leather belt with multicolor rhinestones.
My baby blue purse has a flower lock, so I thought it would be a nice match with a flower skirt. I bought it on ebay, together with an identical pink one, early 2010. The belt is also from ebay. The blue plastic loop earrings are from a shop called the ”Vintage Vortex” in Hollywood and purchased last April. The charm bracelet is one of my first ones, bought in 1999 from a small antique shop on Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas. The baby blue wedges are from Nina Peltonen’s vintage stall at the Classic Car show in Lahti, in May 2012. The baby blue cashmere sweater is from Boss Vintage stall at the Viva Las Vegas weekender in 2011.
