365 Vintage Days: Window shopping at VintagEija’s

Last weekend, we travelled to Turku. On sunday we went to the RetroMarket & Brunch vintage event (Retrotori & Brunssi), organised for the 13th time in a preserved 1940’s industrial setting. More exactly, in the canteen of the former Hellas factory (later Leaf), which produced candies and chocolates well known to all the Finnish kids since the early years of the 20th century. Hellas factory’s production lines stopped late 2006, as the production was relocated abroad. Fortunately the buildings have remained, home to many small companies, including a vintage shop: Evergreen garderobi and the canteen is still in its original shape and still serving food. The RetroMarket & Brunch is a really cool event, with good food for the brunch, good music (mainly 1950’s and 60’s), a vintage fashion show and good vintage shopping.

On saturday, we spent some time at VintagEija’s shop (Eerinkinkatu 37, Turku) and took a couple of pictures of the day’s outfit in front of the shop.
I was wearing a simple blue and white woolen dress, with faux buttons, looking like one would have a blue coat with a white dress under. I also had blue costume jewelry and white ballerinas and box purse. My hair was a bit messy, after trying on clothes in the shop… By the way, the mannequins in the window are both vintage ones… and aren’t they nicely dressed?

I bought this dress last spring from Sneaky Tiki vintage shop in Long Beach. The purse if from Debby’s vintage stall at the Rockabilly Rave (or at the Rhythm Riot) weekender in the UK some years ago. The blue lucite bracelet and earrings are from Flash Harry’s vintage stall at the Rockabilly Rave this june.

365 Vintage Days

365 vintage days was a bet and a challenge. From March 2011 to March 2012, during 365 days, I published every day a new post with a different vintage outfit and had you witnessing the challenge. I have been buying and wearing 50’s clothing and accessories – most of it casual - for more than twenty years and I am still doing so. This blog now continues ...

I literally squeal with delight everytime I see a new post from you. You never cease to amaze with your impeccable sense of style; every single outfit you wear is breathtaking. I only hope to be half as snazzy of a dresser as you, when I venture into wearing vintage clothing.
