I have received feedback from my followers that they would like to read my blog texts in Finnish language too, so from now on I will write texts both in English and Finnish.
I adore my sister’s vintage jewelry collection. She doesn’t, like me either, to purchase fine jewelry, but collectible pieces made of materials like Bakelite, Lucite and rhinestones. Trademarks as Lisner, Napier etc. Usually when I visit at her home, she presents me her latest purchases. Sometimes we change and buy jewelries from each other, but I’m really lucky, because she also lends her own pieces for me. And, in fact, this grand parure cherries set that I am wearing now is lent from my sister’s jewelry box. She collected patiently parts of set from different places until all the parts were there. All I can say is that patience pays off, or what do you think?
Ihailen siskoni vintage-korukokoelmaa.
Ice broke up on a nearby lake on the first week of May and the week after that I was able to take a look at ice-free lake from the island, which is one of my favorite picnic places in the summertime. By the water it was cold, so warm wool skirt and mink collar cardigan were a good combination. The shoes are one pair of my everyday favourites from my all time favorite vintage shop, called Nasta. Handbag is labelled “Ingber” and it is from my sister’s collection.
By the way I will post on the 17th of May, so I shall miss my next Fintage Fashion Show -posting slot.
Since my photographer is on work trip, I can’t have my outfit pictured. This time I am posting a special one, without presenting a full outfit.
The signs of spring are here day after day, academic year is coming to end and people are having their hobby cars out from garages. This is why I started on one day to miss my summer season clothes. So it is time to have a peek in storage boxes and say Hello! to spring and summer wardrobe!
Next I am trying to rise your spring fever by presenting some of the finds from my boxes.
Because I buy a lot of clothes from the internet, people often ask if I make lot of misses, when I can’t see the items in reality and try them on. The answer is almost always no, since I seldom make wrong decision.
The shopping luck is not always with me, and there are times when I have to be disappointed anyway. Today’s knit suit is an example of such case. I bought it a some time ago from internet and according to seller’s pictures, the color of the suit was bright pink. When receiving it became to be of completely different colour.
This colour was absolutely wonderful, but I have already similar colour knit suit! I presented it in my first Fintage Fashion Show posting. Since I am not good giving up on my new buys, I have not nerve to pass it along.
My lucite purse is labelled “Florida Handbags”. I love the flying shapes of it. I also have white springolators and earrings and bracelet set by Coro.
I really like this kind of knit suits and buy them whenever they become available. I like them so much, that I bought a pile of 50’s fashion pics only about these suits. My sister-in-law had seen the pictures for sale in old bookstore of small country village and winked right away to me about them, thanks Mirkku.
Here they are, my red knit suits…
Today I am wearing a black velvet mexican full skirt with a black velvet top which has zig-zag neckline. I’ve been looking for silver colored, hand painted and sequined mexican skirt for a long time, so I was really happy when I found it at last.
My silver metal weave purse is labelled “Dorset Rex”. It has a lucite handle and gray acrylic marble base and lid. My silver colored strap sandals are a flea market find. I also have charm bracelet and soft plastic earrings, deadstock, by Florida Fashion.
Cold winter days are still here, so it is time to have the warmest dresses out from a closet. I purchased this basic boucle wool dress from a theater flea market couple years ago. It is really warm one and comfortably soft!
In addition to that I have purple box purse, which is one of my latest purchases. I bought it from eBay a couple weeks ago. My purple strap wedges are from Etsy and fancy purple earrings are from Viva Las Vegas event.
The last of my presentations have all been dresses, so for today I have selected, for a change, a skirt and top combination. My full circle skirt is made of a stiff material with a velvet flocked pattern. The material is a black and white gingham and the flocking is a flowers and vines print overlay. My top is also made of velvet.
I also have a black patent leather bucket purse which has cute little bow as on my top has. My shoes are patent leather wedges which have black and white straw decorations. For jewellery I have red bakelite loop earrings, red charm bracelet and white ponytail barrette.
I’ve been really busy lately with my studies, so I’ve not had time to shoot pictures of my outfits. For this reason the outfit that I present now is shot a long time ago. Actually it is shot at the end of last summer on a sunny Saturday. I know many Finns, shivering in the middle of snow, are eagerly waiting for the summer to come. So I hope this summerly pic will bring a flash of something to come for them.
I purchased this gold and bronze coloured dress with matching belt from VintagEija’s at the Waltikka Rock and Roll Ball some years ago. Bronze coloured satin shoes with gold coloured spike heels I had bought earlier from Nasta. I was really happy when I came back home from the parties with my new dress, and I noticed that the color combinations of the dress and shoes were matching.
In addition to that I found also box purse, which had completely same color combinations than shoes. After that my outfit was about ready, only without the jewellery. I wanted to keep my outfit simple, so only the ones that I chose were big gold colour earrings from Nasta
I love collecting items, but the best part is when I get one outfit ready. This part comes when all jigsaw pieces (shoes, handbag, hat, jewels etc.) fall into their right places. This is one of those which I remember well when putting it together.
This time I am wearing Lilli Ann labelled silver lamé dress, which I found few years ago from Nasta. When I bought this dress it remained for long as only one of other dresses in my closet. When some time ago I was selecting a dress for my graduation party, this came up as flash in my mind. After that this has been a very dear for me, because it always brings in my memory that unforgettable day.
The outfit that I am wearing now is not the same as on that day, because I wanted to wear few new items (for me) that I had had never on before.
For gloves I had selected a sparkling silver colour ones. The grey-silver Lucite purse I received as a souvenir from my sister when she had visited Toronto. She found it from Cabaret Vintage boutique on Queens St. West. Because she remembered that I had been looking for this kind Lucite purse, she bought it right away for me. The earrings are rhinestone decorated double ball items on chains and my shoes are Lucite Springolator heels.
Here is the outfit of my graduation day. Other graduates were all male so I wanted to select very simple outfit. This outfit also was pure vintage. Silver coloured shoes are flea market find and purse of matching colour is from VintagEija’s. Aurora borealis faceted crystal earrings are from Nasta.
First I want to wish you all Happy New Year! I am very excited to be able to share you my outfits also during this year.
Today I am wearing a really warm outfit, once again. I have here a black full circle skirt and a black wool sweater with one big button. On my coat there is a large collar and a bow at the waist. For gloves I have selected long black ones. I purchased this coat and sweater from the vintage flea market of the Waltikka Rock and Roll Ball a couple years ago. Skirt is from VintagEija’s and gloves I had as a Christmas present many years ago.
On my head I have a black hood which has a faux fur trim and pom poms. I prefer to use often during the winter time hoods and scarves. They are a more carefree option than hats because they do not flatten my hair. This one is a flea market finding from few year since (it is really not old, none of vintage!).
My shoes are burgundy coloured boots with faux fur trim and my purse is matching one with the boots. Few years ago a small town theatre wardrobe renter closed their business. On their closing sale there was enormous amount people, lots of stuff in rather small corners and low prices, so I tried to catch quickly as much I could on my lap without being stamped under the racks. Despite the chaos, I had some nice things like these boots. The purse (Theodor of California) is from eBay.
We were outdoors on the day before Christmas Eve, when the vast part of Christmas preparations were already done. The temperature had fallen already to minus 20 degrees Celsius (minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit), so there was a real call for my “new” winter coat.
The coat with velvet trim and wide hem proved to be extremely warm to be in. I had also velvet gloves and hat with rhinestones. On my feet I had wool lined suede ankle boots. I bought these originally for my sister from a vintage boutique called Penny Lane in Helsinki. They were anyway too large for her, so they ended finally back to me. After that they have been one my favorite shoes for winter weather, especially for their warmness. For a purse I had black box purse and for earrings I had selected rhinestone ones matching my hat and gloves.
Until next year with new outfits and surroundings!
