Fintage Fashion Show: Black Capri Pants

At the end of October Gizzelle and Carlos & the Bandidos performed in Finland, so I decided to put on my own ”bandida” outfit with little sombrero, peasant top and mexican style capri pants.
I bought the pants at Oilers fleamarket last May. I watched them all day, but I didn’t try them on, because I thought they wouldn’t fit. Since nobody bought them I decided to try my luck, and for my surprise I was able to put them on, even though they are a bit tight for me on waist.

Little sombrero is from the antique mall in Memphis, peasant top is from Viva las Vegas, purse is from second hand shop in London, bracelets are made by me.

I've been in 50's scene since mid 90's. I started by listening music of that era and soon I got interested in clothing and everything else that includes fifties culture, and forties too. But still music is number one for me! I mix vintage, repros and new clothes, yet I prefer vintage.

Fintage Fashion Show: Oilers Fleamarket

British motorcycle club Oilers arranges once or twice a year a fleamarket, the second fleamarket of the year was few weeks ago. All the sellers are vintage collectors, so it’s always the best place to do some great finds! The place is not big, but it’s full of awesome clothes, purses, shoes, decorations etc.
I was selling and buying there as usual. I tried few dresses on, but they didn’t fit, but I didn’t have to leave empty handed. I bought brown jacket and black Remix-shoes, that were used only once or twice.

I was wearing gray pencil skirt with buttons in front, white blouse with flower embroidery in pink, green and burgundy and white angora cardigan. Gray, green and burgundy bangles and burgundy purse and Remix-shoes. All the other things are from fleamarkets here and there down through the years except the purse, which I bought from Sylvie.
And this jacket is a new find from Oilers. I have already too many coats, but I couldn’t pass this because I didn’t have this kind of brown jacket before

Fintage Fashion Show: Hillbilly Western

My husband had a record release party and at the same time we celebrated his birthday with a big crowd, because on the actual birthday was spent with the family. We had a beautiful seaside view from the venue!

I wore two piece rayon gabardine western outfit, including skirt and shirt with suede fringes. The suit is in excellent condition in every way. For a long time I searched a western outfit in particular with skirt and shirt (or vest), so I was very glad when my Spanish friend asked me a couple of years ago if I were interested buying this, before she put it on Ebay.

The label of this outfit is Hillbilly Westerns Denver. The factory has manufactured outfits with this same shirt but combined with pants. I’ve seen them on sale couple of times, but mine is the only one with skirt that I’ve seen.

I also had a brown western purse, cowgirl boots and western belt.

Sylvie of ’365 vintage days’ was there also and we decided to take a picture of our western suits. You can find Sylvies outfit from here too: http://www.fintage.net/blogi/365-vintage-days-ranch-party/

Fintage Fashion Show: Pastel Sunday

Last sunday I went to Golden classic car show & cafe in Helsinki with my friends. We were supposed to have just a coke at the cafe, but we had a chance to visit the car show to shoot some pictures and of course we were glad to have that opportunity. One of the cars match my colors, so I chose to have it in the picture with me.

I was wearing a cotton skirt, with white and blue stripes, and some yellow and orange ”dots” here and there. I’ve bought it from a friend few years ago.
The yellow blouse is from Etsy, purchased two years ago and I wore it for the first time, so it was about time!
Super soft light pink cardigan is from Phoenix, purchased a year ago from the shop called Lollipop vintage.
Bangles are from Adolph Rose Antiques, Vicksburg
The purse is Enid Collins’ ”Copy Cats”, which I bought in Summer Jamboree festival, Italy, six years ago.

The belt is from fleamarket and the shoes are modern ones, made in old style tho, both have been in my posts earlier.

She wore a lovely light blue/white/orange/grey striped 50´s cotton dress which she had as a present from my friend.

It was purchahed on ebay. It has a tie/bow decoration on the front, buttons on the back and and a belt made of the same fabric.

The dress is in mint condition and the cut and the fabric are very cute! I love this dress, and I’m glad she does too!

Fintage Fashion Show: Surfer Skirt

Like Sylvie, I went to see Jack Scott when he was in Helsinki. I didn’t take my camera with me so we took the pictures of my outfit at home.

I was wearing white peasant top which I bought from a friend years ago.

”Surfer skirt” is made by Eija (VintagEija’s). She had a blue skirt with this same Surfer/Hawaii fabric, but it was too big for me and I didn’t quite like the color. Eija had some of this original 50’s Hawaiian fabric left, so she made this skirt for me with my favorite color, red.

The white purse is a recent buy from an antique mall in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The place was heaven! I made a lot of great finds from there.

The shoes are repros from Remix.

Fintage Fashion Show: Dancers from Texas

I spent a vacation with my husband in US, it included seven states (Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana). Our trip strated and ended in Dallas where my cousin lives. She gave us a good tip about a market in Canton, near Dallas. ”First Monday Trade Days” is a big four day event where we attended only on the last day. Most of this outfit was found from there.

http://firstmondaycanton.com

I bought a vintage petticoat from one stand, it’s puffy and red – just what I needed!

From another stand I found a yellow circle skirt with brown details and dancers applications. I love dancing, so this is just for me! From the same seller I bought the white peasant top, in which there are yellow, red and black stripe. Goes great with the skirt!

Golden metallic purse I’ve purchased at a shop called Curiosities, Dallas. I like it because it’s little bit bigger, so among other things there’s a room for my camera. The purse seems unused.

Bangles are from Adolph Rose Antiques, Vicksburg. (Here are five of the eight, others are blue, green and black)

I had white belt and brown shoes with me, so I was able to use this outfit already in Dallas.

Fintage Fashion Show: Brownish Silk Dress

My previous posting was a daytime outfit at Ruuhijärvi event. In the evening I wore this dress. I don’t think it was a good idea to shoot pictures for the blog after I had danced messing up my hair (not even a ponytail could help it) On the otherhand it describes me well, because I always dance so much that at the end of the evening my hair is never the same as they were when I left home 😉

I bought this dress a year ago from Beyond Retro-Shop, Stockholm. The dress is brownish speckled silk, with hand painted gold and silver chinese signs. This kind of cut usually doesn’t fit me, so it was a nice surprise that this one does! On the back of the dress is a V neckline.

The little black 40’s purse once belonged to my granny, 40’s black wedges I’ve bought from fleamarket of Waltikka rock n’ roll ball. As dancing shoes I had black ballerinas.

Fintage Fashion Show: Polkadot Bustier Top

As you can see, this time my posting is coming on Friday and in the future I will post on Fridays of odd weeks. This is because at the moment there are only two active bloggers on Fintage Fashion Show, me and Bubble. Bubble will continue on even Fridays as usual, so from now on it’s best to follow Fashion Show on Fridays

In a little country village, called Ruuhijärvi, a fine rockabilly festival is organized every summer. This was 11th time and I think I’ve attended each year! This event has a unique atmosphere with sunny weather almost every time. It starts at noon and lasts past midnight, dj’s, bands, fleamarket on the field, friends, dancing, picnic.. always fun!! Once again the weather was perfect (I love the heat), so I chose a summer top and shorts.

Last summer I was looking for monochromatic bustier top, which would be easy to combine to multicolored and printed skirts and capris. Yet, I find this cute polkadot top from Etsy. It was cheap, because side bones were twisted in time. I took them off and it turned out to be very useful. The fabric is nice and thin in the heat, now I just need to find more monochromatic bottoms to match with it!

The red shorts I bought a year ago from Viva Las Vegas, white belt from fleamarket years ago, the red & white bracelets and hairflower I’ve made myself and the modern red shoes you’ve seen here before, they are my favorites because they are soooo comfortable.

Fintage Fashion Show: Mexican Top and Texsun Jeans

British motorcycle club Oilers arranges once or twice a year a fleamarket, where the sellers are vintage collectors. Always the best place to do some great finds!

I had a black mexican top with some red sequins, cactuses, donkeys etc., purchased from Etsy few years ago. An unique detail or flaw, depending how you want to describe it, is a picture that doesn’t go straight. I’ve thought to move the button so the figures would match, but in a way it’s funny as it is.
It doesn’t show in the pictures, but there’s also a cactus figures in my western belt

I went to the fleamarket wearing the Freddies of Pinewood Classic jeans, which didn’t fit me as well as I wished. I found these Freddies of Pinewood Texsun jeans from there and put them on right a way! I like to wear jeans at home and at work, so I’m glad I found these jeans that fit better to me than the Classics.

I also bought bamboo sunglasses from the fleamarket. I love them!! I have a bamboo purse and they match perfectly.

The purse I’ve bought from London, a shop called Vintage Heaven. My friend saw it first, but let me buy it, because I found nothing else in that shop and she had already a lot of purchases from there.

Bracelet with flowers I’ve purchased from Viva Las Vegas car show last year.

The shoes are repros from Remix.
