Fintage Fashion Show: Cadillac Skirt

Summer is coming, but let’s get back to the autumn leaves for a while. The last two weeks I’ve been wearing mostly my pajama, since I’ve been sick, so I have nothing new to post..

This picture was taken last fall while we were going to Helsinki Vintage show. I was planning to take some pics of this outfit in the event, but I forgot since there was some other things on my mind, like shopping ;) So, this pic never ended up to Fintage Fashion Show, but I decided to save this one for a day like this, when I haven’t got nothing new to show.

The light pink cardigan is from Phoenix (Lollipop Vintage). Some of the beads are lost, but this was cheap and it is so soft and cute, so never mind!

The skirt is Cadillac label. I bought it about 10 years ago at the vintage fleamarket of the Waltikka Rock ‘n’ Roll ball in Valkeakoski. Skirt is heavy material, and it has black velvet and some pink details.
I’ve been looking for more Cadillac skirts/dresses from Ebay and Etsy, but still haven’t got any others. But I’m sure this Cadillac will have some company someday!

The winter ankle boots I bought from my friend many years ago. She had found them from fleamarket, but they were too small for her so I got them.

I've been in 50's scene since mid 90's. I started by listening music of that era and soon I got interested in clothing and everything else that includes fifties culture, and forties too. My passion at the moment is western wear and fringes, all kind of fringes. I mix vintage, repros and new clothes, yet I prefer vintage.

Fintage Fashion Show: My favorite dress, 40′s beauty

This dress is my all time favorite of all the dresses I’ve ever had and that’s why it deserves to be presented with these classy photos taken by Marko Hämis Hämäläinen. On these pictures you can also see my friends and my husband – on their permission.

The dress is light black rayon crepe, with so many lovely details, like nude chiffon on the top and pleated “pockets”, which actually are not pockets at all, they are open at the bottom. Not mentioning those beautiful lace details which really make this dress a special one.
I bought this from a second hand shop 15 years ago. It has traveled with me around the world but it’s still in good condition! If someday it doesn’t fit me anymore, I’ll keep it anyhow.. (Usually I sell everything that doesn’t fit me). Well, I hope that day never comes!

Little beige purse belongs to this dress! Not for real, ‘cos I bought them separately, but I’ve never used this purse with any other dress… they belong together. The purse has some darker brown details and it’s made to look like an animal fur.

Black high heels I bought from fleamarket, also some 15 years ago.

Fintage Fashion Show: Baby Blue Flowers

I’ve been busy lately but here I am again!

These pictures were taken at Savoy theatre (1937). Once again my lousy camera won’t do justice for this lovely place.
I was wearing brown/green chiffon-like light summer dress, with cute baby blue flowers and some sparkly rhinestones on chest. I bought this dress last autumn from a friend at Oilers fleamarket.

At the same time I bought from the same friend this awesome purse. It’s clear plastic with some gold and silver details, and some knots and coins.. it’s hard to describe, but hopefully the picture tells it all!

Light brown wedges you’ve seen before in my posts, green cardigan is repro.

Fintage Fashion Show: Brown Dress

These pictures were taken at the Finnish Railway Museum. The place is worth visiting!

I purchased this brown/beige dress from Viva Las Vegas a year ago. It has lovely lace details and dark brown velvet belt. It has a lot of 40′s influence, but I’m not sure is it actually from late 40′s or early 50′s.

I bought dark red purse from a friend, shoes are repros from Remix and dark red&brown charm bracelet is from Phoenix, shop called “Cheap thrills” – worth visiting too!

I also wore a black jacket. With little bit of gold in it, it goes nicely with brown dress too. It’s quite new for me, purchased from a great second hand shop Nasta, in Helsinki.

Fintage Fashion Show: Hand Painted Skirt, Black Velvet and Fireworks!

Last weekend we were at Ladybug weekender, so this time I am posting two outfits. In this great event there are two nights full of music and dancing, and on saturday there’s also a pool party at the daytime. It would have been a good opportunity to take some bathing suit pictures, but here’s just my evening outfits.

On friday I had a black halterneck dress with ”fireworks” fabric. I bought it from web fleamarket few years ago and when it arrived my daughter said it looked like fireworks, so the name ”fireworks dress” stuck. If you have followed ’365 vintage days’ blog, you’ve seen exactly similar dress. (http://www.fintage.net/blogi/365-vintage-days-190-black-with-yellow-and-blue-stars/ )
The dress was little bit too short and didn’t fit well, but I added a little extension in the neck and the dress turned out to be perfect.
The shoes I found 15 years ago from a fleamarket. The fruit accessories I’ve made myself.

On saturday I wore black velvet mexican skirt with golden hand paintings and sequins. This heavy weight full skirt is my treasure! Once again an Ebay find. The black velvet top is a recent buy from Etsy. I bought it for this skirt and wore it for the first time.
I purchased the gold plated metallic purse with clear lucite top and handle several years ago from Etsy. The golden vinyl heels with gold tone leather trims I bought from VintagEija’s stall the night before.

Fintage Fashion Show: Snowflake Cardigan

Here’s is one of my favorite cardigans, beige with white snowflakes. Lucky me, this was too short for my friend so we swapped some items, including this one. Besides being pretty, this is also very warm, made of wool and angora. It’s nice on cold winter days.

Jeans are repros from Freddies of Pinewood. They have large front pockets and a side zipper.

My favorite winter footwear are originally skiing shoes from the 40′s. They are very warm with woolsocks and so comfortable to use! I found these from a fleamarket 15-20 years ago in mint-condition. Unfortunately, I’ve used them so much, that they need some fixing, TLC.

The beige purse I bought from my friend last fall at Oilers fleamarket. She brought it from USA and it’s in good condition, also on the inside.

Green and black jacket is made in Finland, no further information of it. My friend has a similar jacket which is labeled James, maybe this one is too? I bought it few weeks ago from my friend for whom it was too small. Lucky me again!

A knitted headband I’ve made myself from vintage pattern.

Fintage Fashion Show: Shiny New Year!

This is my first posting this year and let this year be as shiny as my outfit!

I’m wearing black and silver lurex dress. I found it from Lisa Larsson Second Hand Shop (Stockholm, Sweden)
http://www.lisalarssonsecondhand.com two years ago and fell in love its asymmetricness. The dress has asymmetric cut both front and back, and it’s made kind of a sarong style (wrap). It has a lot of lovely details, it’s a pity that some of them don’t show in the pics.

Cute little sparkly silver clutch purse is from Phoenix, shop called Lollypop Vintage. The silver ballerinas are also from Phoenix, they are new but they match with the purse so I bought them.

Fintage Fashion Show: Red Felt Skirt

I hope you all have had a nice and peaceful Christmas time. I celebrated it with my family. Today is the second Christmas Day and in Finland it’s called ”Tapaninpäivä” (St Stephens Day). Traditionally it has been a day of horses and horsemen, when people has visited friends most preferably by horse sleigh ride. In the old days it used to be also a popular wedding day.

Here is my Christmas Eve outfit. Nothing too fancy, because I wanted to feel relaxed and be able to eat a lot! I was wearing red felt skirt with a cute little kitten playing with ball of yarn. I’ve bought it from etsy few years ago and it’s been my Christmas skirt ever since. The black top is probably from 60′s and it belonged to my grandma. The 40′s wedges you’ve seen on my earlier posting.

It was snowing a lot so I had to wear proper clothing as we went to visit my mom. I was wearing red valenkies – traditional russian felt boots, red and black wool jacket and a fur muff.

Fintage Fashion Show: Red Fringes

We spent a nice evening in an old and idyllic hotel at Karjaa. Our trip included live music and fleamarkets. I took lots of pictures in a beautiful environment, but unfortunately most of them are bad quality or complitely failed because of a camera failure.

I was wearing black western shirt with red fringes. Its label is Rockmount Ranchwear which has been around since 1946 and it’s still active. I’m not sure how old my shirt is, but their style has been the same ever since.

My black pencil skirt is from fleamarket and I’ve sewed the red fringes myself. I got the idea from my friend who did the same.

Red belt, black leather purse with red and mustard flowers, and black boots with also red and mustard flowers are all fleamarket finds. Red hair flower I’ve made myself.

Fintage Fashion Show: Metallic Mexican Skirt

It’s about high time to introduce one of my mexican skirts. In fact, it was my first one. This full circle skirt is hand painted with metallic colors. It’s one of my favorite skirts, because it’s comfortable to wear and it looks good on the dancefloor. I think I’ve bought it from Ebay, but I can’t remember when.

Golden purse was surprise from me to me. I was checking out Etsy one night, I was actually way too tired to do it, but I was looking for something. I saw this purse and obviously I bought it and forgot it right away. So, it was a nice surprise when it arrived! It was like a christmas gift since I had no clue what’s inside the mailing package.

High heels are fleamarket find from late 90′s. They are so cute that I’ve saved them, all though I hardly can wear high heels anymore.

Black peasant top and knitted bolero are from fleamarket, fruit bracelets I’ve made myself.
