The summer seems long gone by now, but before I head towards autumn I thought I would show you my beachwear. These outfit photos were taken by my friend David Hate. The weather was already rather chilly and you can see how the leaves are just starting to change colour. It must have been the last sunny and warm day of the year so we headed to the beach.
I simply love beach pyjamas. Those flaring wide legs, sleeveless tops, fresh colours and bold prints. This particular pyjama was inspired by a picture in a Finnish magazine Kotiliesi from 1934. I made the whole outfit – including the hat – last summer and it is made of white and blue linen. For the next one I am going to have to find some nice rayon to get more of a flowing look.
The bag is made of paper string and found from a flea market. It was deadstock, as were the shoes that I bought from Etsy. I am still looking for the perfect pair of shoes to be worn with the pyjama and others to come.
The turquoise wool bathing suit I purchased from eBay last winter. I had found this really nice straw hat from a vintage shop in Edinburgh the previous winter and I like how it matches the turquoise of the suit.
