Fintage Fashion Show: Old ferry

With one Fintage-colleague we once discussed how Finns turn everything into museums. We sure love history! It´s all around us and usually well preserved and treasured. Last Saturday I found a new piece of local history. This old ferry has stood in Kulovesi for a couple of decades and yet I´ve missed it. The ferry was still in use in the 70′s.

Below´s what I wore. The outfit was a bit different than what I usually wear at countryside. Reason for the skirt and heels was a thrifting and antiquity event in Hauho. That is a different side of us Finns loving our past. It´s great that tradititions and memories are adored (more for us vintage-nuts to buy and love!), but these days some people understand all things old as antique or vintage. And the words antique and vintage justify very high prices.

Nevertheless this was a great summer day!

Ester

I use the name Ester, though it is not my real name. Instead it is very finnish and very forties, as I would hope to be. A few years ago I fell in love with the period between late 30′s to mid 40′s. I adore the frumpy and practical, but ever so stylish 40′s homefront women and campus girls.
