Fintage Fashion Show: Playing with plaid

I found this beautiful vintage lightweight wool fabric from a flea market quite some time ago. Lately I have been in a desperate need of a new summer dress and I must have spent hours going through dress designs from 1930s to get some inspiration. The fabric was only 28 inches wide so cutting the whole dress on the bias would have been tricky, but I did not want anything too plain either. This is what I ended up with.

I wore this dress at the event Rhia already mentioned in her post yesterday. On Sunday the weather was just perfect for an outdoors vintage fair, it really felt like summer again after a few weeks of more or less cold weather.  One of my latest purchases from Etsy are these two toned 1930s shoes (very dusty in the photo because of all the sand). The straw hat is a flea market find.

Marianne

A young lady from Tampere, Finland, with a passion for the old days. I have always been an aesthete, which eventually got me into vintage. I wear vintage daily and my pet period is the 1930’s. As certain vintage items are difficult to find I also often make my own clothes drawing inspiration from old magazines and photos. I have a soft spot for old shoes and aspire to surround myself with pretty vintage heels.
