Fintage Fashion Show: Red and black velvet

The last of my presentations have all been dresses, so for today I have selected, for a change, a skirt and top combination. My full circle skirt is made of a stiff material with a velvet flocked pattern. The material is a black and white gingham and the flocking is a flowers and vines print overlay. My top is also made of velvet.

I also have a black patent leather bucket purse which has cute little bow as on my top has. My shoes are patent leather wedges which have black and white straw decorations. For jewellery I have red bakelite loop earrings, red charm bracelet and white ponytail barrette.

Dressing in vintage clothing is part of my lifestyle, which is due to my love of music from 1940s to 60s era. Almost all my vintage items date back to 50s and early 60s (small part is already from 40s). In this blog I shall only present vintage items (unless specially noted). Besides collecting vintage items, I love going to parties in good company and having looong hot rod car runs. I will post every other Friday (even numbered week). I hope my outfits will delight you or even better inspire you! By the way, I am not in the Facebook, so I can not comment on those messages. Messages left via Facebook are of course welcome, but I will not be able to comment them in these circumstances. IN FINNISH: Vintage-pukeutuminen on osa elämäntapaani, joka on seurausta rakkaudestani 1940 - 1960-luvun musiikkiin. Lähes kaikki vintageni on 50-luvulta ja 60-luvun alusta (pieni osa on jo 40-luvulta). Tässä blogissa esittelen ainoastaan vintage-tavaroita (ellei toisin mainita). Vintage-keräilyn lisäksi tykkään käydä juhlimassa hyvässä seurassa sekä tehdä pitkiä hot rod -ajeluja. Postaan aina parillisen viikon perjantaina.

Just gorgeous! Red is definitely your color. I just saw the exact same tote in white in my 1959 sears catalog. I was curious… do you wear a vintage petticoat under your skirts/dresses? They always have the perfect amount of fullness.

Thanks Susie! Nice to hear, that you have recognized this tote from Sears catalogue! I am always exited to find my vintage gear in old advertisements and catalogues. I have both vintage and new petticoats, my favourite two are new ones. I am a little bit hooked in the princess look, so I am often wearing a double of them together. 🙂
